Homecoming

Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church will hosts its annual homecoming service.

It will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church at 510 NE 15th St.

The church will also celebrate Fathers' Day at 11 a.m. on June 18.

PASSAGE Family Church

PASSAGE Family Church will celebrate its 21st Founders Day.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church at 2020 NE 15th St. The theme will be "Follow the Light," and the guest speaker will be Bishop Gary Hall Sr., jurisdictional prelate of the Central Florida First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.

Also, the church will host Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 12-16 at the church. This year's VBS theme will be "Listen Up - God Is Speaking." It will conclude with a special Praise & Worship service on June 16 that will include a picnic on the grounds, complete with fun, fellowship, music and loads of activities.

VBS

Open Door Ministries will host its Vacation Bible School 2023 and Community Carnival. 

VBS sessions, open to ages 3-18, will begin with dinner at 5 p.m. and interactive fun and learning from 6-8:30 p.m. June 12-16 at the church at 601 NE 19th St.

The VBS theme will be “Twists & Turns: Following Jesus Changes the Game.” The carnival will be held from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. on June 24 for all ages at the church. It will feature games, food, rides, singing and dancing.

GNV Bridge

GNV Bridge (formerly Gainesville Vineyard) will hold its next drive-thru Grocery Giveaway on June 14 at 11 a.m. at the church campus in Lincoln Estates at 1100 SE 17th Drive at the site that formerly housed the Southeast Boys and Girls Club.

Also, the public is invited to Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m. at the church. Lunch will be provided afterwards.

VBS

Grove Park Community Christian Church will host its Vacation Bible School.

It will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday-Friday at the church at 5717 SE 152nd St. in the Grove Park community near Hawthorne.

The theme will be "Glow For Jesus," and open to all ages.

Relationship workshops

Unity of Gainesville will host a six-week workshop on how to improve relationships with others.

They will be held from 10:30 a.m.-noon on Tuesdays through June 20 at the church at 8801 NW 39th Ave. The workshops will focus on developing effective tools for expressing opinions, needs, wants and emotions to family members, doctors, neighbors, sales people, different generations, etc. Through practice of the skills demonstrated in class - meditation, prayer, journaling and sharing - participants will be able to more effectively manage relationships in their lives.

Conducted by Dr. Christina Gilman, the workshop can be attended all six weeks for $60 or individually for $12 per session. Gilman is an ordained Harmony of Life Fellowship minister and has worked as a psychotherapist and college instructor.

Due Season/Deep Fishing Ministry

Widows' Wings

If you know of any widows or widowers, please let them know the Widows' Wings Ministry at Upper Room Ministries' wants to serve them.

It does not matter what church you go to as we are called to serve all according to scripture from James 1:27, which states that "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The ministry will provide participants with a guardian angel to check on them, host bi-monthly "Love Nests" for them and pray for them regularly.

Musician needed

Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 2505 NE Eighth Ave., is seeking a minister of music who will direct the organization and implementation of a comprehensive church music program.

The minister of music serves as a leader in Sunday worship services, mid-week service (Tuesday night), specials and funerals. This position will be responsible for scheduling weekly choir rehearsals, playing music of various genres (contemporary, traditional and hymns), using keyboard/piano and/or organ and introducing and teaching new songs on a regular basis.
